Abstract:
Marine erosion induces various geological disasters. In order to study the marine erosion in Laoshan, Qingdao, the effects of petrology and structural characteristics on marine erosion were investigated by the site sampling, specimen identification and rock slice observation. As a case study, the distribution and impacting factors of marine erosion physiognomies on Laoshan area were discussed based on the characterization of marine erosion physiognomies in Shilaoren area. It shows that Laoshan bedrock is IA type composite granite. The rock with the strongest resistance to marine erosion is of Laiyang Group sandstone, followed by the volcanic rock of Qingshan Group, adamellite and the alkali granite and the weakest is biotite monzonite. The fracture broke the stability of the rock and promoted marine erosion. The lithology is dominated by rhyolite in Shilaoren area where the intrusions of andesite was preserved and formed the sea erosion column during the retreat of the sea cliff. There are a variety of marine abrasion physiognomies that affected by external factors such as seawater, temperature, salt crystallization and biological action in Laoshan area.
