Abstract:
The variation characteristics of sealevel, temperature and maximum typhoon wind speed in Hainan Dongzhaigang area were analyzed because of the high sensitivity of mangrove ecosystem to sealevel rise and extreme typhoon events in the context of climate change and used oceanatmosphere observation data and field survey data from 1980 to 2018. Based on the conceptual framework of climate change risk of IPCC, an “exposuresensitivityadaptation” indicator system for vulnerability assessment was constructed and the vulnerability characteristics of Dongzhaigang mangroves under events of sealevel rise and typhoon landing are assessed. The results show that firstly, the important hazard to Dongzhaigang mangrove ecosystem is the rapid rise of sealevel and the rising rate of 4.6 mm/a is much higher than those of global and China coastal areas. The second impact factor is tropical cyclones or typhoons occurred within 250 km of Haikou area before 1993 and after 2006. Secondly, the average value of the mangrove vulnerability index in Dongzhaigang area is 0.31, which is a medium vulnerability level. The mangrove vulnerability is the highest in Sanjiang area and the lowest in Yanfeng area. The vulnerability index system constructed by this paper can reflect better for the vulnerability characteristics of mangrove ecosystem under the influence of rapid sea level rise and tropical cyclone or typhoon.
